Growing up in a predominantly catholic country, I was inundated with religious imagery and iconography since childhood. We were bombarded with western-looking faces of religious figures. I wanted to reclaim the faces of Jesus and Mary to look more like Filipinos. In the same way that other parts of the world have recreated these faces in their own likeness.

Built using AI, I took common Jesus and Mary imagery and asked AI to recreate the face to look like Filipinos. This is what the machines have come up with.
