agony stumbled upon sorrow

in the middle of nowhere

hoping for a glimpse of relief

from the torment

that circulated agony

the longer they sat together

the more clear it became

sorrow was not there to wipe away the pain

but rather provide agony

with a shoulder to lean on

as the realization that the pain

was permanently seeping

into the veins

of everything around them
